Outpost Rekantha
More actions

Outpost Rekantha serves as the center of all Federation activity in the region. Every patrol, convoy, exploration mission, diplomatic initiative, and colonial supply operation passes through the station in some form. Its fabrication arrays, logistics depots, and long-range communications network hold the frontier together.
Established in 2375, in orbit of the resurrected colony world of New Bajor, Outpost Rekantha is Starfleet’s first permanent installation in the Gamma Quadrant following the Dominion War. Constructed rapidly from modular fleet-support infrastructure, enormous cargo storage facilities and industrial fabrication platforms, the outpost serves as the Federation’s primary foothold beyond the Bajoran Wormhole.
Named after a the ancient Bajoran mythology of the lantern carried by pilgrims to worship at the Celestial Temple, Rekantha represents both hope and uncertainty to the people of New Bajor. To Starfleet, it is a logistical and diplomatic hub at the edge of explored space. To many Bajorans, it is the beginning of a new age of exploration foretold long before the Occupation.
Outpost Rekantha functions as:
- a deep-space logistics depot,
- long-range exploratory command,
- industrial replication and fabrication center,
- diplomatic waypoint,
- and emergency safe harbor for Federation vessels operating in the Gamma Quadrant.
While not a full Starbase and still incomplete, the outpost has rapidly become indispensable. Merchant convoys, scientific expeditions, relief missions, intelligence operatives and opportunists of every kind now pass through Rekantha’s docking arms.
For many within Starfleet, Rekantha is merely a remote outpost.
For others, it is the first step into an entirely new Gamma Quadrant.
